Is this sort of "damage" to the pistol grips normal and expected on a new condition m1911? I can imagine this could have come from thousands of plastic grips being tossed into a barrel waiting installation. In addition to this, there are a few small scratches along the base of the plastic pistol grips. The only trouble I can find with this piece involves the pistol grips - they're original looking, but a few (3-5 each side) of the diamond checkering has broken off and worn down. I was told the box was not original, but do not know about the wrapper. In addition to this, there is no rubbing along the top of the barrel under the slide near the ejection port. The finish looks original, the ordinance stamp is crisp and clear so I doubt it has been reparkerized.

I don't think it has been fired more than once or twice for proof firing.

The condition appears pristine - springs are very stiff, finish is sharp, heat treatment is visible around the muzzle and lock notch.

I've been given the opportunity to purchase a "as new" condition Remington-Rand complete with box, wax wrapper, and two wrapped magazines.
